James is a member of the Davidson College class of 2008. He is a music major with a minor in chemistry, and he hails from Tarrytown, New York. As the son of two Irish immigrants, he has had a close connection with both Irish homeland culture and the diasporan situation from a very young age. From 1989 until 2005, James traveled to Ireland every summer to visit his extended family and to play the national Irish sport known as Gaelic football.

James hopes that this discussion of U2, Globalization, and Irish post-nationalist identity provides the reader with a considerable understanding of how the desire for international fame and commercial success can lead to a regretably extensive loss of unique, local culture. Enjoy!
