Closely tied to the concept of Marnie as “queer other” is the readily obvious tie between Marnie and a bizarre mélange of the animalistic, the traditionally “savage,” and a requisite smattering of vagina dentata imagery. The animal motif directly opposes the marine motif, and through her transition from one to the other lies her development towards her cure.
