Male Bumbling and Female Correctness

One of the most obvious aspects of this film is Jimmy Stewart's perennial incompetence. Each time he tries to venture out beyond his wife's touch, he fails. He is presented as awkward at all times, not fitting into booths, chairs and even performace halls because of his height.

Day's character, on the other hand, always seems to know what she is doing. She has an accurate hunch about the Draytons, finds Hank at the Chapel and makes her way to the Hall to save both the Ambassador and Hank. Since the sedation she exerts her rightness. Whereas Ben finds himself in the taxidermist, she easily finds the real Ambrose Chapel.

While her husband gets himself clubbed in said chapel, escaping through a bell tower, she elegantly appears at the Royal Albert to prevent the assassination.
